When friends Vex and Bo arrive at the lobby of the Grand Bug Hotel, it looks like the holiday of a lifetime: bellhops in tiny hats, a glittering ballroom, celebrity guests on the rooftop helipad... even a Termite Queen checking in. What could possibly go wrong? Answer: Everything.

Room numbers make no sense, an ageing moth actress mistakes them for admirers, their luggage vanishes, and termite toddlers are chewing through the hotel faster than the ants can fix it. Meanwhile, something shady is going on behind the scenes...

Ziggy Hanaor is a writer and publisher living in London. She is the author of V&A award-winning graphic novel Alte Zachen (2022), Carnegie-nominated The Egg Incident (2023), Life (As We Know It) (2025) and YA graphic novel, Everything Amplified (2025) – all Cicada.

Ollie Silvester is an illustrator and animation director based in Bristol. His clients include The New York Times, Bloomberg Businessweek and Camden Town Brewery, and he is the illustrator of the UKLA longlisted picture book, Gory Rory Fangface Needs a Kiss (2023, Cicada).
